Belle Vale Park has won a coveted Green Flag award.

This is the first year that Belle Vale has been entered in the scheme.

It joins several other Liverpool parks to win the Green Flag accolade.

The Green Flag scheme was started to encourage sustainable parks which are well kept and which are a benefit to the community.

It's hoped that a Friends of Belle Vale Park group will follow so that interest in the park can be further boosted.

The awards presentation for all the parks that have won Green Flag awards takes place next month (August).

Lib Dem Councillors Ian Phillips and Tom Marshall have been keen supporters of the work at Belle Vale, which has seen real progress over the last few years.
