Councillors to discuss airport expansion plans

6.32.47pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 28th Oct 2006

Liverpool John Lennon Airport's plans to expand are to be discussed by City Councillors this Thursday (2 November).

The debate, at the City Council's regeneration select committee, follows a request from Councillor Paula Keaveney for more scutiny.

The airport is currently consulting on its plans for the future. Liverpool City Council is one of the organisations replying to the consultation. The Council's "cabinet" has already produced a response, but Paula Keaveney believed it needed to be looked at by more people before being sent off.

Says Paula:

"I have been spending a lot of time surveying people in Speke for their views. I've had loads of surveys returned to me. I want to make sure these views are taken into account, hence my decision to ask for this special scrutiny".

"I am still collecting views so if people have other points they want to make, they are welcome to e mail me or write to me."

Information about the select committee, and regeneration select committee, is available at www.liverpool.gov.uk. Contact details for Paula Keaveney and other Lib Dems are on the navigation bar of this website.
