South Liverpool Foodbank launched in Woolton.

On 1st October an exciting new caring initiative was launched at Sainsbury's Woolton Store.

The South Liverpool Foodbank, created by a community of local churches, aims to provide food and household products to needy residents, There will be regular events at various Supermarkets, when shoppers will be invited to donate an extra item from their baskets to the Bank.

Gateacre residents, Ernie & Nira Hodgkinson and Beryl McLaren are leading members of the organising committee, who are asking for your support. Said Woolton Councillor Barbara Collinge, "The Credit Crunch means this is an issue for everyone. Anyone of us could lose income or fall out of work and The Foodbank can supply a ready safety net."
